David and technology

Here's the recap of a few recent events I'm not even making up:

  • He can turn on the stereo in the living room when he wants some music or turn it off when he hears one he doesn't like.
  • He is drawn to any computer, laptop, remote control, cell phone and any other device featuring buttons and knobs.
  • A few weeks ago, while playing with mommy's mouse on her computer he launched 3 application *at the same time* within *seconds*. I think he did that by selecting several icons on the desktop, leading somehow to launch them at the same time.
  • The other day he turned on my computer, a trick that requires two steps: turning on the surge protector and THEN turning on the computer itself.
In other words, we have the use of buttons hard-wired in our brains. Apparently, millions of years ago it was a major survival advantage to know how to push buttons and turn knobs.

The parents are expecting the worst as he grows. Dad has enquired about buying barbed wire to lay around his computer.
